Thought of the month

The humble improve.
The arrogant never do.
Let's be willing to eat a little humble pie each day.

Missed Signals

The preacher said to the Farmer: Do you belong to a Christian family?
Farmer said: No, I live 2 farms down the road.
Preacher said: No, I mean are you lost?
Farmer said: No, I’ve been here 30 years.
Preacher said: I mean are you read for Judgment Day?
Farmer said: When is it?
Preacher said: Could be today, Could be tomorrow.
Farmer said: When you find out for sure let me know. The wife may want to go both days.

Someone is missing the point!

Grandad's Violin

A granddaughter listened many times to her Granddad play the violin; when he finished playing he always hung it up on the wall. One day the granddaughter decided she wanted to play the violin so she took it down and broke it. She took the broken violin to 5 or 6 shops and each place told her they could not fix it because they had never seen a violin like that so she put it back on the wall. The next day the granddaughter went to her granddad's house to tell him she had broken his violin when she walked through the door her granddad was playing his violin. The granddaughter told him about the fact she had went to many, many shops but they couldn't fix the violin. Her granddad's remark was "that's alright I fixed it I made it".

Please don't ever quit praying for Janice. "He made her" and only "He" can fix her. How many times have you prayed for our troops and their safety and when they returned home they have told you of times their life was on the line and felt someone praying? They would change their course and it spared their life. Do not ever try to tell me that prayer won't work.

A Memo from God

Put it in God's Hands!

Hello: This is God. Today I will be handling all of your problems. Please remember that I do not need your help. If the devil happens to deliver a situation to you that you can not handle, DO NOT attempt to resolve it. Kindly put it in the SFJTD box (something for Jesus to do). It will be addressed in My time, not yours. Once the matter is placed into the box, do not hold on to it or attempt to remove it. Holding on or removal will delay the resolution of your problem. If it is a situation that you think you are capable of handling, please consult Me in Prayer to be sure that it is the proper resolution. Because I do not sleep nor do I slumber, there is no need for you to lose any sleep. Rest, My child. If you need to contact Me, I am only a prayer away.

Truth

The renowned English preacher Charles H. Spurgeon believed in fervent prayer. For it is he who wrote; "Prayer pulls the rope below and the great bell rings above in the ears of God. Some scarcely stir the bell, for they pray so languidly; others give and occasional pluck at the rope; but he who wins with heaven is the man who grasps the rope boldly, and pulls continually, with all his might."

Thanks to all of you for your constant prayers for Janice. It’s working. The pressure ulcer (Decubiti) that Janice has is almost healed. “Praise the Lord”. She is not out of the woods yet so please continue to pray.

Please add the following to your prayer list: Pastor David Bishop had cancer surgery.

If you're coming to Russellville, AR and would like directions to our home church (Harmony Free Will Baptist) or have a prayer request please call Pastor Terry Latham 479-641-2393.

The Brashear French Name

Even though "Brashear" is a French name Jerrel Brashear from Russellville, Arkansas will tell you in a heartbeat he is a flag saluting, and waving American. His ancestors are French, Cherokee Indian and Welch. Brashear serviced in the Army National Guard – 217 Eng. HQ & HQ at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville while in high school. (Jerrel says that was many many years ago.) From a very small boy the only career that he ever wanted was to sing Southern Gospel Music and God granted his wish. He sang in 1 group in Russellville, Arkansas, 2 groups in Mississippi, 1 group in Jonesboro and 2 groups in North Little Rock Arkansas. Then in 1972 Janice and Jerrel started their Brashear Family group that took them all over the beautiful U.S. including the state of Hawaii plus the countries of Jamaica and Canada. Jerrel believes the reasons he loves Southern Gospel Music so well is The message is so clear, it is in his blood and part of his family is Stamps of the Stamps-Baxter Music Co that published such beloved songs as "I'll fly away","When the Roll is called up yonder" and so many more. Jerrel's parents were Rev. Tommy and Imo Brashear from Russellville, Arkansas.

Even though Jerrel's wife has Parkinson and is unable to travel any more Jerrel is still singing "some". When the need arrives Jerrel flies out to sing and gets back to his wife Janice as soon as possible. Janice is in Stella Manor Rehab Center. The address is 400 North Vancouver, Russellville, Arkansas 72801, Room 108 East Wing.
