Down thru my life of singing the music that I dearly love – "Southern Gospel," I’ve had the honor of setting in a high profile meeting with George Younce and Glenn Payne of the Cathedral Quartet (just because I was writing for the Singing News Magazine). I rode the bus with Ed Hill that is with Stamps Quartet and the Profitts Quartet – Dennis Zimmerman that is manager for the Watchmen Quartet from California. Dennis has been a writer for the Singing News for a long time. I’ve managed the Stamps-Baxter Crownsmen for the Stamps-Baxter Music Co. I’ve had the honor of sitting behind the curtain at a singing and just chatting with James Blackwood, with Joe Pat Hoffmaster of the Blackwood Brother Quartet. Joe Pat was the first tenor that was featured on the song "Learning to Lean". I’ve had the honor to sing with C.G. (Cat) Freeman that was with the Statemen Quartet as first tenor. Cat was Vesstal Goodman’s brother. I sang with some of the hardest working and the best singers that ever stepped a foot on a stage "My family" The Brashear Family.
I have met some of the finest people in the United States and Canada. One of these is Greg Hamilton that sang a long time with the Crystalaiers from London, Ontario Canada. He and his wife Sue are coming to the states to visit Janice soon. How neat is that?
Another one of these awesome folks who has been a hero of mine for the longest of time is Gerald Williams that manages the Melody Boys from Little Rock, Arkansas. Gerald Williams taught me word pronunciation and tone. Gerald taught me how to breathe to hold those notes. I tell you the truth I thought the man was going to kill me. Just kidding Gerald. I will always appreciate this great man.
Gerald and I sat and talked some while ago about a song writer, singer and DJ by the name of Red Ellis. Then one night Janice and I had the honor to meet this very tall and very much a gentleman Mr. Red Ellis – What a guy! From there I learned that Mr. Ellis has radio programs that can be heard not only at KABF-88.3 FM but also via the internet at KABF88.3.org. When you start listening to this awesome singer, song writer and DJ you will want to write him at 6707 Stone Crest Drive, Little Rock, AR 72204. This man knows Southern Gospel Music inside and out. Hearing Mr. Ellis will fill a void in your family’s life like you will not believe. You must try him on first and fourth Sundays from 2 to 4 pm and every other Wednesday from 5 to 7 pm. Share the info with all your friends.
