Evangelist Outreach Program

We have added a link to the Evangelist Outreach Program. The Brashear Family has been connected to this ministry for many years. Janice wrote the theme song for the television program, “The Field’s are White”. Evangelist/Pastor Calvin Evans and his wife Doris were some of our greatest friends. They have left us to go Home to Heaven. Now their son Rev. Calvin Ray Evans has picked up the mantle and is doing an awesome job. Since the beginning of the program, there has been 68,289 conversions to Christ. “To God be the Glory” Thanks to Rev. Calvin Ray for agreeing to link to us as well.

Phone Number Change

Jerrel and Janice's home phone number is now mobile. You can still call their 479-967-1154 number but you're going to get him on his cell phone now. Make a note as his old cell phone number is no longer needed because of this change. Isn't technology wonderful!

Pensacola Christian College Quartet

By now you have more than likely noticed the information about how to order the CD by the Pensacola Christian College Quartet. Rejoice - soon the girls trio will have a CD out with the same great song that Janice wrote "He's Still Filling Vessels" and many of you remember Rodney Griffin singing that song with us for awhile and what a great job he did.

Rod also writes songs for Pensacola Christian College singers. It was so great of the Lefmann sisters from Pensacola Christian College to stop and visit with Janice and me. We enjoyed our visit greatly. Come again soon.

The college also has sheet music - 3 part harmony and 4 part harmony and music on CD's for choirs and orchestration.

Southwest Festival of Gospel Music

I know this is May 2009 and the next Southwest Festival of Gospel Music is not until March 6, 2010 but I’m a believer in letting people know in time so they can plan maybe their vacation around this awesome six hours of southern style gospel singing. You can purchase your tickets in advance any time by calling Janet Miller at 210-857-8899 or email to millergospel@aol.com.

Advance tickets are $ 10 or $ 12 at the door. Special church group rates are $ 8.50 per person minimum 12 people per group. Children age 12 and under are admitted free.

Don’t wait until the last minute to buy your tickets. The Brashear family started this Southwest Festival of Gospel Music back in the 1970’s in Phoenix, AZ. We took the singing all over Arizona, New Mexico and Northern Texas and then we had the honor of be invited to South Texas. Believe you me promoting is no walk in the park. I’m sure Billy and Janet Miller would tell you they wake many, many times wondering what to do next to let people know what’s up coming.

If you have knowledge of TV or radio stations that have programs that have local people on tell Billy and “He” will follow through. I am positive. Janet and Billy could use your “Help” not to be boss but help. Did the Miller’s ask me to write this story? “NO, NO, NO”. I’m writing this story because I’ve been there and done that. I’ve been called every name in the book from moron to goof and more because I did not listen to some people’s ideas. Be willing to work “With” Billy and Janet so the Southwest Festival can be more successful than ever and let God get the glory and South Texas “WILL” be blessed.

The talent for the March 6, 2010 festival will be the 2008 South Texas Gospel Music group of the year Of One Accord – Pure Grace, Dennis Rehders and Hearts of Grace from Brazoria – Lampasas – Bang and Frisco – Texas. I have a CD from all the groups that will appear at the 2010 Southwest Festival and you people that are making your plans to attend are in for a great treat. Never underestimate the power of a great southern gospel song. It is incredible and very understandable.

Pastors encourage your people to attend the “Festival”. Please don’t forget the youth. As has been said many, many times – They are the “World of Tomorrow – the next generation of America".

The 2010 Southwest Festival of Gospel Music will be Saturday, March 6, 2010 – noon until 6 pm at Oak Ridge Baptist Church. The address is 10915 Vance Jackson at Wuryback – San Antonio, Texas.

The young people of the church will provide food and refreshments for a small cost. These young folks do a great job and they are very generous and polite folks.

Go, enjoy, take your family and sit together. Mark your calendars!

Southern Style Gospel Music started before the 1300's in America. Let's keep our music American.

There is room for church buses and vans to park on the parking lot.

Thank You! Thank You!

Thank you - Thank you - Thank you to all the people that Janice's has received cards and letters from. The latest is from Shirley and Paul Wishman in Pasco, Washington. We can't count the times we have spent in their home, and we always felt very welcome. Shirley, Janice said "THANK YOU" for all the prayers and friendship.

Janice is beginning to get her speech back some. Her appetite is coming around. Yesterday morning she ate 100% for breakfast, 70% for lunch and 100% at supper time. Today it was 80% for breakfast, 90% for lunch and 85% for supper. "Praise the Lord!"

Thanks also to all of you for your prayers for me, "For Strength" "I do really believe pain and mental stress are no match for an earnest prayer". I have never been able to write songs - Janice is the songwriter, but I believe the line that I just wrote about prayer "will sing". So someone send me a new song.

Thank you to all that are sending cards, letters, phone calls and emails from Canada. You all please pray for America, we really need your prayers. Before I forget again, if you would like Janice's great song sung by the Rejoice Quartet from Pensacola Christian College, the song "He's still filling Vessels" you can send them an email at www.rejoicemusic.com or write Rejoice Music, P.O. Box 19400, Pensacola, FL 32523-9400; phone: 1-800-722-3220, e-mail: info@rejoicemusic.com, or fax: 1-800-874-3590.

Where ever you may be in the world, thank you for looking in on The Brashears' website. Thanks all of you from bookstores that our son Michael was very instrumental in getting those "Jerusalem" caps into. I carry those caps on dates when I sing. "Now" the Lord has given me another design. Picture this - a royal blue cap - a bright sun with a ladder in front of the sun - with the words at the side "Step Up to the Son". I have trademarked both of these caps. The Lord gave the ideas to me. Pictures of the new caps will be on our website soon. I will ship any where in the world. CDs or caps- the price of the CDs or caps plus shipping.

I am sure you love Southern Style Gospel Music as much as we do. Pull up www.thegospelstation.com and you just might hear The Brashears and if not email them and ask them and they will play us.

We don't "ever" want to have to send you folks that are ordering our CDs and Tapes COD. I just checked with the post office and the COD service is too high. We just want to trust you to send the amount we agree on. God bless you all and thank you so much for your orders.

An Update on Janice (11/17/2008)

The pressure ulcer on Janice is almost healed and she will be able to remove the catheter – "Praise the Lord". I want to say thanks to Stella Manor for their work.

I know that "PRAYER WORKS" because so many of you have sent cards, letters, phone calls and left messages telling me that you are praying.

An Update on Janice (7/29/2008)

She's doing so much better – the pressure sore is down from twice the size of a half dollar to maybe the size of a single dime. Thank you, thank you for all of your prayers. But please don't quit.

Thank you to Tanner Stahl of the Soul'D Out Quartet from Ohio for stopping by Stella Manor to visit Janice.

When I went to my car about 5:30 am one morning to make sure I would be at Janice's side for breakfast I turned on the radio to KWXT and the first song I heard or at least part of it was these words "Hold on weary pilgrim hold on." The Lord sure knows when you need a blessing – Doesn't he?

A Public God Bless and Thanks to a Group of Wonderful Folks

My wife is ill with Parkinson's and is in Stella Manor Rehab Center. Our home is being watched at all times; the lawn is mowed, when people park their car in our driveway that the neighbors don’t recognize they ask questions. This is not a sales pitch to sale homes in the Darby Lane – Bragg Circles area. This is a sincere "We love the way you care".

They know when I leave and when I come home. They know where I’m going. I went to pay a gentleman for his work and for the gas he was using. His remark to me "Oh no we are just glad we can lighten your load."

From Janice and me "You people are awesome". We can’t ever say enough Thank Yous.

An Update on Janice (7/8/2008)

Another big thank you to ALL of you that have sent cards and more to my wife Janice. I really wish I had words to tell you how she brightens up when the mail lady comes.

The churches in our area that steps in for a short time are the Lutheran, Southern Baptist, Free Will Baptist, Nazarene, Church of Christ, Assembly of God, Methodist, Pentecostal Church of God, Independent Pentecostal and more. May God bless you all.

Thank you also to all the people who sing and play instruments week after week at Stella Manor and the people who give their time to do programs week after week. One couple drives from Benton, Arkansas which is a little more than a hundred miles one way. One lady that works at Stella Manor a lot of hours comes two Sunday nights a month with some of her church people. They sing, testify then she reads some out of the Bible.

I sang at Antioch Free Will Baptist Church here in Russellville, Arkansas a few days ago and a lady came to me to tell me she was interested in bringing a group to do a gospel program. My dad Rev. Tom Brashear and my Uncle Rev. Terrel Brashear would have loved to come to Stella for services.

Thanks to our neighborhood for all you are doing for Janice and me. It’s been nothing but awesome.

If you would like to send a card or letter to Janice here is the address:

Janice Brashear
Stella Manor – Room 108 East Wing
400 North Vancouver Avenue
Russellville, AR 72801
Jerrel's Cell Phone: 479-970-4700

I remember years ago when Mike, Lisa and Angela were very small, our family would sing in Rehab centers across America. Janice played the piano wonderfully and I would sing to the best of my ability, but all eyes were on our children, which Janice and I loved. I have a feeling it took some of those people back to when their children were about that size.

If I could ever do or say anything on this website that meant anything – please let me encourage you to go to a rehab center somewhere in your part of the world. Just go visit or maybe take the folks a little card, maybe get the children in your church to sign a letter or card to be delivered by mail or just hand it to them.

Please, please, please let’s not let these people get the idea they have been abandoned just because they are ill. If you are going on a vacation make your plans to visit a friend or relative, if you’re going fishing go by a rehab center first, if you’re going on a cruise or what ever it may be include a trip to the rehab center even for a short time. In my opinion it's good to raise our families to appreciate our seniors.
